Let’s talk about what’s going on in the Baltic Ocean. My closest sea has been in trouble for many years. Unlike most oceans, the Baltic’s mix of salt and freshwater creates a rare, fragile ecosystem, one that’s now struggling with “dead zones,” algae blooms, and a dangerously slow recovery cycle.
I teamed up with the brilliant minds at Race For The Baltic to design a limited collection of bladderwrack-cufflinks and earrings. Think: sculptural, organic, unexpectedly elegant. It’s a tribute to the Baltic Sea -an ocean that’s not far-flung or exotic, but big part of our lives, living here in the nordic east Europe.
Why bladderwrack (blåstång)? Because the specie is a keystone that holds the ecosystem together. The bladderwrack brings life and oxygen to the Baltic coast. So we turned it into a jewelry, made from recycled silver, to serve as a statement and a reminder of the baltic seas’s fragile system.
Big love and thanks to Race For The Baltic for the important, hands-on work they’re doing to safeguard this ocean. Sometimes the most meaningful action starts right where you are. We’re proud to be part of the movement.
